I've Got the Fever
Main Entry: cabin fever
Function: noun
: extreme irritability and restlessness from living in isolation or a confined indoor area for a prolonged time
You know it’s bad when you can’t find something to watch with 100s of channels to choose from, a Netflix subscription, too many DVDs you own, and two tivos.
Our area of Texas is currently experiencing an icestorm of epic proportions – at least epic in the Texas sense when it comes to ice and snow. Most other parts of the country do just fine with a few feet of snow. Texas falls over and plays dead. There was even a report that central Texas only had enough sand and ice-melting chemicals for a day or two and they’ve already run out!
Also, as we’ve been going from watching TV to watching movies to reading websites to playing with the dogs to making meals and eating cookies and playing the new Wii, eventually two of these things would have to collide given so much time stuck in one confined place. Those two things were my Wii controller smacking the back of my big dog’s head. I was bowling and thought I was paying attention, until he somehow got in front of me and I clocked him in the head. The poor guy ran off, but he was fine. His skull is thicker than an iron wall.
Although he did get upset with me, and generally hid from me for the rest of the day. It was also our first Wiimote Injury, and hopefully the last. What’s a Wiimote injury? Take a look…
